Georgia EPD requires counties with a population greater than 10,0000 to develop and implement an Impaired Waters Plan (IMP), detailing sampling efforts for any 303(d) listed streams within the county. If a stream does not meet the water quality standard for its designated use, then it is classified as an “impaired waterbody.” The Clean Waters Act requires sampling and reporting on water quality every two years to meet an eventual goal that all waters within the state are fishable and swimmable. Catoosa County has established a Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Phase II Stormwater Management Program to:
In order to meet the requirements of the IMP, CTI personnel took grab samples semi-annually from the four designated 303(d) listed streams to be tested for e.Coli. The results are aggregated to show long-term data of the effects of stormwater management implementation in the county.
