The Fishcreek Water Reclamation Facility contains two parallel treatment processes: an oxidation ditch (OD) maintained in regular service and rotating biological contactors (RBC) which have been disused since the OD was constructed circa 1998. Each process is individually rated for an average daily flow of four million gallons. Rehabilitating the OD and its final clarifiers requires careful phasing to first restore the RBC clarifiers and supporting elements to operating condition to ensure continued treatment when work on the OD is performed.
CTI was selected to design process, mechanical, and electrical improvements focusing on the OD treatment train. Improvements include restoration of the RBC clarifiers, complete mechanical and electrical overhaul of a sludge pumping station and force main, modifications to effluent and sludge diversion structures, and construction of a gravity bypass from the OD to the RBC clarifiers.
