Downtown Streetscape Improvements for Revitalization

Problem

The City of Canton is implementing area wide streetscape improvements across downtown to widen sidewalks and enhance the area, as well as various utility improvements for stormwater and utility relocating. Coordination was performed with the local county transit authority (SARTA) and the City to determine loading and unloading requirements and design standards for their daily operations. Improvements were implemented in multiple phases to accommodate the City’s budget over several years. Easements had to be coordinated with the local church.

Solution

CTI provided oversight and engineering assistance for the final design and plan preparation. The project provided a streetscape, road and sidewalk widening with a new curb and gutter, a pedestrian bus shelter with new streetlights, electric design, and a retaining wall. The work was completed in two phases.
