Lake of the Woods Pump Station

The existing Lake of the Woods pump station was a 25-year old below ground flooded suction wastewater pumping station. The existing pump room was housed in a buried steel enclosure requiring confined space access where the pumps were extremely cumbersome to access and maintain and the station had outlived its useful life. The City desired to have this station replaced with a more modern maintenance-friendly design.

Project Description

The design challenge was keeping the existing station operational while installing the new pump station on a confined site adjacent to two (2) residential properties. The pump design was also hydraulically challenging in that a series pumping configuration was required to meet the high head conditions (413 gpm at 195 feet TDH). The installed pumps were Gorman Rupp V-Series pumps. Each pump consists of two (2) impellers and two (2) volutes in series powered by a single 50-HP motor.
