The Carter Lakes dams in Tallmadge, Ohio, had been determined by ODNR to have several deficiencies in safety and overall condition which must be corrected to prevent the development of conditions hazardous to downstream residents and properties. There are two dams built of earthen embankment, built across the same stream. The Lower dam is approximately 600 feet long and 30 feet high across a valley to create the lakes. The Upper dam is approximately 300 feet long and 15 feet high, providing a mid-lake driveway crossing and dividing the water body into two lakes.

When TDOT announced plans to demolish the existing SR 2 bridge and construct a new bridge over Nickajack Lake on the Tennessee River a short distance away, the Town of Jasper was responsible for not only realigning the roadway approaches and addressing other transportation issues but also for relocating water lines and utilities associated with the bridge crossing. The town retained CTI to design a solution that would allow the existing water lines to remain in service for 2 years or more while the new bridge was constructed, and new lines to operate immediately when the new structures was complete, ensuring no interruption in service.

This mainline trunk sewer is located in Gorge Park which is part of the Summit County Metro Parks in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The existing trunk sewer ran parallel and adjacent to the Cuyahoga River as it traverses through the steep and rocky ledges of the gorge. The sewer was undersized for its current flows and was subject to frequent surcharging and overflows, especially during wet weather. The existing 24-inch steel pipe aerial sewer was constructed in 1939 with several modifications, repairs and improvements in the interim. Because portions of the original sewer were constructed above grade on piers, it was subject to frequent strikes and main breaks from falling trees followed by large sewer overflows to the river. These overflows could sometimes last for days before the City became aware of the problem and was able to access the remote site with the necessary equipment to repair it.

Older portions of this well-established subdivision were constructed without the benefit of a complete storm water system. Runoff into these areas increased as a result of paving and grading in newer parts of the development. In the older areas, the streets served as drainageways, eventually overflowing into yards and homes.

CTI designed approximately 1/2-mile of 5-foot-wide sidewalk along Highway 166 in Fulton, Kentucky. The sidewalk was planned to provide residents of an assisted living facility, many of whom use wheelchairs or scooters, access to the commercial district without traveling in the roadway. This road crosses two streams via box culverts. Initially, the plan was to lengthen these culverts to accommodate the sidewalks.
