CTI’s Akron office is once again participating in the Akron Pubic Schools All-Akron Student Engineering Program this summer, hosting two APS STEM students. The students are spending two weeks with the company, learning about the water and wastewater fields.

The first student, Ken Vang, will be a senior this fall at East High School. Ken has interest in electrical engineering because of a cousin who works in that specialty. “I like that he can go out into the field and work, and isn’t stuck behind a desk every day.”

Outside of school, Ken enjoys playing sports, especially tennis, basketball, volleyball and baseball. He is undecided on a choice of college to attend after high school.

The second student, Gwen Jenkins, will start her senior year at NIHF STEM High School this fall. Gwen isn’t sure of her future goals, just that they would be science-oriented, and professed enjoying all areas of science equally. “I enjoy science because every day you get to learn something interesting.” She was excited about the opportunity to work with CTI Engineers. “I’m looking forward to learning something new. You can’t get this experience anywhere else.”

In her free time, Gwen enjoys reading and watching TV. Like Ken, she is undecided on where to attend college, only that she’s looking to go to school “somewhere in Ohio.”

Ken and Gwen will be working with CTI during the weeks of July 9 and July 23. Their time will include work in the office and in the field, touring various projects completed by CTI Engineers.
